An interdisciplinary approach

The ERC IDEM project wants to promote the exchange between philosophers and scientists. This is why during the duration of the ERC (2015-2020) we will organize sevreal interdisciplinary events, notably four workshops, one summer school and one final conference.

Modern day science is becoming more and more specialized, which leads to institutional boundaries between the different fields. Philosophers of science can help to overcome these boundaries by investigating the similarities and differences between the way some concepts (for example “symbiosis”) are used in the various fields, and by making connections between approaches or models that seem a priori different. The aim is to integrate the different perspectives into a unified picture.
